Mandy Griffin - Managing Director - Digital Health
Mandy has had 25 years experience as a senior manager both in the private and public sectors. Her responsibilities and development has been predominately around Customer Service excellence and how businesses better align their services and products to the needs of the customer.
Mandy spent 21 years working in a demanding retail environment for a reputable blue chip company, working in financial and commercial roles across England. She was the Chief Operating Officer of The Health Informatics Service (THIS) in between 2009 and 2015. In January 2015 Mandy took up her role Acting Director for The Health Informatics Service.
Mandy enjoys running, walking and good food! And spending time with her two teenage daughters.
Stuart Baron - Assistant Director of Finance
Stuart previously worked as a Manager for Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP and throughout the 10 years worked within the Government and Public Sector department. Stuart provided external audit, internal audit, risk assurance and financial assurance services to the NHS, Local Government, Education bodies, Housing bodies, Charities and private sector clients. Stuart joined CHFT in April 2013 as Assistant Director of Finance, primarily with the focus on financial planning and efficiencies whilst also being the finance representative for THIS.
Stuart is a keen cyclist, having completed the John O’Groats to Lands End cycle ride in June 2013, he also plays football, follows Manchester City and enjoys walking his two dogs with his fiancé.
Rob Birkett - Assistant Director of Informatics - Corporate and Operations
Rob joined the NHS in 2002 following a successful career in the Armed Forces and technical design roles in the private sector with Marconi and Energis (Cable & Wireless). He joined The Health Informatics Service in a technical role before taking on a number of operational management roles including Infrastructure Manager and Service Delivery Manager where he qualified as a Prince2 practitioner as well as passing a number of ITIL V3 Intermediate qualifications (Continuous Service Improvement, Service Design and Service Strategy).
After completing his MBA in 2009 at Huddersfield University, he took the role of Head of Service Delivery responsible for end to end IT Support across the organisation before becoming Head of Enterprise Services adding teams such as IT Training, Information Governance and Web Development to the portfolio. Rob is currently an Assistant Director of Informatics looking after day to day operational delivery and the organisations corporate responsibilities.
He is actively involved in sport and has a keen interest in Mountain Biking and Rugby Union. He lives in West Yorkshire and is married with one son.
Chris Dunne - Assistant Director of Informatics - Service Delivery
Chris originally joined the Health Service in 2000 on a student placement for a year with Calderdale and Huddersfield Health Informatics Service. After finishing University he returned to Calderdale and Huddersfield Health Informatics Service as a Project Manager leaving to take up a place on Marks and Spencer’s Graduate Management Programme in 2004. Chris went on to work as a Commercial Manager for M&S looking after various assignments in both Head Office and regionally in Stores.
Chris returned to the NHS and The Health Informatics Service (THIS) in 2007 initially as Education, Training and Development Manager. Chris took up a position as a Service Account Manager after THIS’s re-structure in 2010 and then went on to become General Manager for the service looking after THIS’s relationship with their host (Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust), the National Pathology Exchange and heading up the Project and Programme Support Office. Chris is currently Assistant Director of Informatics and is responsible for Service Delivery throughout the organisation, the Service Account Management Team and Business Development.
Chris has a BA Honours degree in Marketing and a MBA that he undertook at the University of Huddersfield. He is married with a young daughter and enjoys an active social life regularly playing football, squash and golf.
Julian Bates - Assistant Director of Informatics – Information & Chief Information Officer
Julian joined the Trust in February 1995 as Information Analyst within the Finance Department, supporting the GP Fundholding and Reference Cost agendas. In 2000 he moved over to the Information Department, and was appointed to the post of Surgical Information Manager at the inception of The Health Informatics Service. In 2007 he became the Head of Information – Secondary Care and in August 2011 was appointed into his current role.
Prior to joining the Trust Julian worked for 2 to 3 years as a Contracts Officer at Leeds Heath Authority. It was here that he began studying for a Certificate in Health Service Management which he completed in 1995.
Julian grew up in Leeds, and his degree course in Applied Statistics and Computing at Liverpool Polytechnic gave him his first exposure to the NHS. His year out was at the Killingbeck Hospital and he returned there on graduation in 1991 as a Research Fellow in Computing, implementing a monitoring system on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Julian is married with four children. The majority of his leisure time is spent at his local cricket club. Other interests include watching films and walking the family dog.
